Famous for decades in Cenla. Their Pies are awesome. Food is awesome. You should go to Lea's

Well, nothing against the place or anything, but gee wiz, $14+ per plate for, well, average food and not a heck of a lot of it. You had four choices for the plate dinner, or you could have the ham sandwich. . . yep, that's the menu! My husband had roast beef and I had chicken. Mine featured two small pieces of chicken, a leg and a thigh, along with a decent sized helping of cornbread stuffing, a small (think large tablespoon) sized helping of green beans, same of squash, and same of cranberry, and a very tiny (albiet soft) roll. The chicken was not as good as KFC but similar in size if not smaller, and his serving of roast beef was not much more than a single palm sized slice (. ..even the waitress commented on how little roast beef was on his plate). We each ordered pie and, well, sure, it had a huge layer of meringue, but the pie itself was probably 1/2-3/4" thick of filling. Our bill, with one iced tea, was over $42.00. I'm sorry, but this appears to be one of those "everyone jumps on the bandwagon and raves without really comparing" or "we want to support our local restaurant" or something, because MAN, I've had many MANY better meals for less money all over the country! I just don't get it! If the food had been awesome, or cheap, or something special, but you get WAY more for your money and better taste from many, many of the chain restaurants. Now, I love trying new places and try to avoid chain restaurants as much as possible when traveling, but it's getting pitiful when we say, "Let's go to the Texas Roadhouse because at least we know it's good and inexpensive!" Come on people, give us places with great food that DESERVE the four or five stars, not places like this.

Recommended by someone from the area. Traveling north on I-49, easy off at exit #61 and then drove north and caught I-49 at Alexandria. We enjoyed cream pies on a midmorning stop and pick up fruit pics to go for lunch down the road.

Even though it has been said approximately a million times, Lea's Lunch Room is absolutely fantastic. Every long trip I take through the middle of Louisiana I stop in for some pie(and of course I have to get one for my father who requests one as well). Worth a detour if you have the time.

Pies, ham sandwich, hams and coffee are top notch. Plate lunch is too expensive for the small amount. Very tasty but someone needs training on cooking rice. Crunch is not good and it's been that way several times.
